The Skip Wagner Story
Skip Wagner (1935-___) was a legend in the Northwoods, where he was THE summer act from 1964-99, and all the way up to 2019 in various stages of retirement. I leapt at an opportunity to see him in a latter-day performance in about 2018 -- prompted by the equally-excited Jan Kurtz -- at the now-disappeared Showboat lounge adjacent to the long-disappeared Northernaire resort. This slightly-overwrought newspaper account hints at the modified, limited fizz of the mid-20th century, as lived by someone who was marching to a somewhat different drummer than most of us.
