Description
The poor properties in the through thickness direction make composite structures particularly made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) susceptible to low velocity impact damage. The ASRG-ITA has been working in collaboration with INPE and MIT in the development of an industrial process to produce Nano-structured laminates in order to improve through-the-thickness properties of composites. The idea of this research is also to benefit from the piezoresistive properties of CNTs in order to design sensors for structural health monitoring
