BIOGRAPHY

Edmondo De Amicis is a well-known Italian writer born in Oneglia in 1846.

He spent his childhood in Cuneo and right here he did his high school studies. Of his stay in the "Beautiful City", De Amicis, collects all the memories in a volume entitled "Memories of Childhood and School".

He tells us about his first approach to school, his first heartbeats for a young woman and all his aspirations that went through his head as a child, from wanting to become a sharpshooter to a tenor.

He will also form a friendship with a corporal named Martinotti, from whom the young De Amicis will have to separate following the departure of the bersaglieri for the Crimean War.

In the Piedmontese capital there are still commemorative plaques and buildings that allow us to trace his childhood.
