The competent teacher understands and uses appropriate formative and summative assessments for determining student needs, monitoring student progress, measuring student 6 growth, and evaluating student outcomes. The teacher makes decisions driven by data about curricular and instructional effectiveness and adjusts practices to meet the needs of each student.
For this assessment, I created a coin quiz for my students during my student teaching. This activity taught the students the different coin amounts and how much they are worth. The goal for this assessment is to see the students knowledge on coins and the amount they are worth.
This assessment relates to standard 7 which states, "The competent teacher uses assessment results to determine student performance levels, identify learning targets, select appropriate research-based instructional strategies, and implement instruction to enhance learning outcomes". This was for my instructional math class, I included a page that tells the studetns the amount the coin is worth. This was a good accomodation for the students.
Overall, this assessment helped the students better understand what it is like to work with money and coins and helped them be able to count the coins to add up to a bigger price.
This assessment is for a brain pop video over sound. This was from my 1st half of student teaching. This activity taught students a more in depth look on sound and how it works.
For this assessment, it relates to standard 7.2 which states, "The teacher appropriately uses a variety of formal and informal assessments to evaluate the understanding, progress, and performance of the individual student and the class as a whole". This relates becuase we are quizzing the students level of knowledge over the BrainPop video and we see what they understood. The questions are right there anwers, so if the student watched the video, they should be able to find the answer.
This is important to see because some students are more of a visual learner and having this activitiy where they are being quizzed over a video is helpful since they can see what is being discussed. We are testing to see the progress each student has been making in their understanding of sound and this is a good way to test it.
