Though these designs have never been fully actualized, I believe that my conceptual work speaks to my creativity and design style when unconstrained by a budget or practical application.

The greatest challenge of this show was figuring out how to grayscale the ghosts, especially during a period show, and balancing historical accuracy with design choices also proved to be quite the struggle. However, I am very proud of how these designs turned out.

My design concept for this show included gobos reflecting the Jacobean neogothic architectural style windows, fog and haze for supernatural moments, and reddish pinks for all of the heavy emotional and romantic scenes. This project included virtual renderings using Mulvaney Studios, making mini plots, a scene breakdown that deviates from the script, a rough plot draft, a section view, and a channel hookup. Some examples of these are below.

This is such an emotional and heavy play, and while it is set in the late 1800s, themes from this show are still very relevant today. This was my first staged reading, and it was amazing to have the opportunity to work with such lovely directors and an incredibly talented cast and crew, and to be able to present my designs to audience members directly.

This musical stands to date as one of my favorites. I enjoyed being able to blend the styles of the time period and the artistic design choices of the show design to create era-accurate costumes in a watercolor style.
