Workshops

Workshops are offered from October - May. They are a great way to get to know fellow KVQG members, and learn something too! Cost will be specified for each workshop. Payment is required to reserve a spot. These payments are non-refundable unless someone from the waitlist (or someone else) attends in your place. New members receive a coupon for a free workshop. Generally, these expire after one year. To register, or for questions, please send an email to janemlane1858@icloud.com

In addition to items listed on supply lists, participants should bring an extension cord and/or power bar, a small iron & ironing pad (if desired), lunch, and a bag for sewing waste.

Beginner Sewing - with Ann Perry

Thursdays, Oct. 8 - Nov. 12 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Corner

Six weeks on Thursday evenings
An overall view of quilting techniques. You will construct a small table runner from planning colours and fabric, to piecing and maybe applique. You will sandwich three layers, quilt it and bind it.
Located at the Quilt Corner
Cost: $50.00 for member or $60.00 for non-members

You will need to bring a sewing machine.

Rope bowl - with Ellen Belyea.

Cost: $20.00.
Supplies needed are…. 50 to 100 feet of cotton clothesline braided rope or 1/4 or 3/8 sash rope (Not polypropylene or plastic cord), Cream coloured thread, 2 to 3 filled bobbins , buttons, fabric strips, beads, or ribbon if you wish to decorate it,
Bring your own machine, scissors, measuring tape, straight pins, sharp sewing needle and clips.
Note: denim needle on your machine works best but regular works

Wet felting a vessel for beginners - with Kate Frego.

Date: TBD

With all material supplied, make a bowl shaped vessel out of un-spun wool. Wool will be layered into around form and wet, felted into a solid fabric. This will require rubbing, rolling, and hand working the layers to felt them firmly together. Then shrink and harden the shape.
Participants should bring several large absorbent bath towels that may be discoloured in the process.
Cost is $20 for class and $25 for supplies for a total of $45.
