Next Meeting - Wed. Jan 21, 2026 at QPlex at 7 pm.
Workshops are offered from October - May. They are a great way to get to know fellow KVQG members, and learn something too! Cost will be specified for each workshop. Payment is required to reserve a spot. These payments are non-refundable unless someone from the waitlist (or someone else) attends in your place. New members receive a coupon for a free workshop. Generally, these expire after one year. To register, or for questions, please send an email to janemlane1858@icloud.com
In addition to items listed on supply lists, participants should bring an extension cord and/or power bar, a small iron & ironing pad (if desired), lunch, and a bag for sewing waste.

Description: Make your own personalized junk journal with quilted cover!
In the first part of this class, we will create a quilted cover. This journal cover can be as complex or as simple as you like, made with a precious piece of fabric you’ve been hoarding, from selvage scraps, a finished block from a previous project, wee printed scraps, fat quarters or anything else you have on hand. I will provide the pattern in class.
In the second part of the class, I will demonstrate how to turn your quilted cover into a completely unique, personalized “junk journal”. A junk journal refers to the preference of reusing or recycling papers, book pages, tea-dyed papers, old calendars - anything really - toform the bulk of the pages in a handmade journal. We will hand stitch one or more signatures (a group of pages, folded together) into the spine of your quilted cover.
All the tools for hand stitching in the signature will be provided.
Supply List: Please bring:
-your sewing machine, walking and regular foot, thread, seam ripper, wonder clips/pins, ruler, rotary cutter, mat (or use the ones at the Corner), and a sense of adventure;
-three fat quarters or equivalent yardage and thread. You can also bring lace, ribbon, floss, buttons, etc, to decorate your journal if you like;
-a piece of batting or In-R-Form Batting at least 15x13”. I will have some In-R-Form batting on hand or you can purchase it at Town and Country quilts for $38 for a 30x60” package.
Alternatively, you can use thin cardboard, such as a cereal box, with regular batting to create structure for your journal;
-book pages or any kind of papers that you like, to make the pages of your journal. You will need about 15 decorative pages and 15 regular journal pages, such as printer paper or tea dyed paper. You will want an assortment of sizes of paper which we will fold and trim to fit your journal. I will have kits on hand for $15 with an assortment of papers if you prefer.
-scissors for cutting paper, a small paper cutter if you have one, or a rotary cutter you don’t mind using for paper;
-a glue stick, bone folder, ruler, pencil, stamps and stamp pads, pens, markers, decorative scissors, washi tape, corner rounder punch and other paper-craft tools. I will have these items on hand so you don’t have to go purchase them - just bring them if you have them.
-4 large binder clips if you have them.
