River Valley, NB is a new branch of Victoria’s Quilts Canada, established October 2023, which has approximately 50 active members. Victoria's Quilts mission is to provide handmade quilts to people living with cancer in Canada, and to bring physical comfort. The area that we deliver is Oromocto, down to Brown’s Flat/Gagetown, Maugerville to Jemseg, Cambridge – Narrows and surrounding areas, Wickham and Chipman, Belleisle, to Sussex area to Upham, Hampton, Quispamsis, and Rothesay. It is a large rural area so we have 13 ladies who deliver. Each one keeps 4 quilts at their home with the written material so the quilts can be delivered in a reasonable amount of time. We have 2 groups that meet regularly (one in the KV area & in Cambridge-Narrows). Guild members help out by making quilt tops (size 50 x 70), making blocks from kits prepared by VQ, quilting & binding, and making bags. Some kits are available at monthly meetings or can be picked up at the VQ location at 113 Hampton Road, Quispamsis. Many ladies organize the work done for this project – make tops, bags binding, & quilt on long arms. We deliver over 100 quilts per year.
To contact the group please call Lynn Armstrong 506-216-3300 or Kim Reese 506-650-6874.

This is an initiative to supply neo-natal quilts to the Saint John Regional Hospital for babies in the NICU. Suggested quilt size is 20" x 24" and they should not include yellow on the back of the quilt. Susan McEachern coordinates collection and delivery of these quilts.
The Monday Morning Group has been making Charity Quilts for many years. This year they challenged themselves to make a BOHO heart quilt for the Kingsway Care Centre Nursing Home. They also made 10 nine patch quilts for residents and a twin size quilt for Bobby's Hospice.
Every year our members vote on Charities to support from money raised at our annual quilt show on our raffle quilt and Quilter's Walk.
In 2024 the raffle quilt profits supported donations of $632 (each) for the following charities:
Bobby’s Hospice
Hestia House
NB Mind Care
The Quilter's Walk Proceeds of approximately $1300 were donated to KV Oasis.
On April 23, 2025 KVQG members met with representatives of the Boy's & Girls Club to donate t-shirt quilts for their 125th anniversary. Two of the quilts will be auctioned off, and one will be displayed in their lobby. Thanks to Monday Morning Group, Tuesday Night Chicks, and Sue McEachern & Janet McNulty who quilted the quilts.

For several years now guild members have cut 16 bolts of red fabric into rectangles (12 x 16) that we give to the volunteer group Telephone Pioneers to get screen printed, sewn, stuffed and sewn again into pillows that are used by cardiac patients after surgery at the Regional Hospital. Here's a photo of those who helped out in 2025.
This is a national initiative spearheaded by Vanessa Genier, who is coordinating a nation-wide effort by volunteer quilters to gift quilts to Survivors of Residential Schools. The quilts are a symbol of support, respect, and love. Our local committee is comprised of: Libby Maskos, Jean Foglein, Betty Anne Waugh, Susan McEachern, and Ann Perry. They have committed to a two year project, focusing on supplying quilts to Survivors in the Maritimes. To support this effort the committee will provide a block of the month, and periodic sew days (zoom and in-person). The goal is to gift 50 quilts over a two year period (2021-2023). Our guild members have been very generous making quilts, long-arm quilting, making embroidery labels, and cards. Here's a link to the national Facebook page "Quilts for Survivors" .
