A. As a general rule, students must apply for a leave of absence personally.
B. Application Method:
Portal → Academic Administration → Academic Records → Academic Status Change Management → Leave of Absence Application/Cancellation → Departure from Korea within 15 days
If you are unable to access the academic portal due to not being enrolled in health insurance, please access the link below, complete the Leave of Absence application form, and submit your request through the Q&A board.
C. Students on a leave of absence are not permitted to stay in Korea.
Students must depart Korea within 15 days from the date the leave of absence is processed by the college.
D. The standard leave period is one year.
Students may apply for return to school after six months.
To extend the leave beyond one year, a new leave application must be submitted after the initial leave period ends.
Failure to apply for an additional leave will result in dismissal after the leave period expires.
E. Limit on Personal Leave of Absence
(Applicable to freshmen, transfer students, and readmitted students from the 2024 academic year onward)
Freshmen: Up to a total of 6 semesters of personal leave during enrollment
Transfer students: Up to a total of 4 semesters during enrollment
Readmitted students:
Readmitted to Year 1–2: Up to a total of 6 semesters of personal leave after readmission
Readmitted to Year 3–4: Up to a total of 4 semesters of personal leave after readmission
F. Eligible Period for Applying for a Leave of Absence
If tuition has been paid:
Application allowed until before the midterm examination period begins
The paid tuition will be automatically carried over upon return to school
(No additional tuition payment is required when returning)
If tuition has not been paid:
Application allowed until the tuition payment deadline
(around March 10 for the spring semester / around September 10 for the fall semester)
Tuition payment is required upon return to school
G. Leave of Absence for Merit-Based Scholarship Recipients
Students who are scheduled to receive a merit-based scholarship for the following semester and have received tuition reduction notification must apply for a leave of absence after completing registration.
Merit-based scholarships cannot be awarded after the registered semester.
A. If a return-to-school application is cancelled, all course registration records will be deleted.
Therefore, reapplying for return to school after the course registration period is not permitted.

Please check the official website announcements during the vacation period for information on the start date for return to school, tuition payment period, and course registration period.
(In general, applications for return to school are accepted from mid-January or mid-July until the end of the tuition payment and course registration periods.)

A. Important Notice
If you enter Korea with a C-3 (Short-Term Visit) visa, it cannot be converted to a D-2 (Student) visa.
You must enter Korea with a D-2 visa.
However, applicants who already hold an F-series visa are not required to apply for a separate D-2 visa.
