Microsystems for Communication with a Brain
강의 내용
Recently, several Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technologies have been introduced, some demonstrating remarkable results in human trials. Advancing BCI requires a deeper understanding of brain function, which involves investigating and modulating neural circuits at the cellular level in vivo. The development of neural probes with stimulation capabilities has made it possible to study neural activity in specific brain regions using various stimuli. To effectively analyze neural circuits, it is crucial to simultaneously measure multiple neural signals, including both electrical and chemical signals, across different brain regions. In this seminar, we will introduce a multifunctional neural probe system designed to achieve this dual-mode measurement while incorporating various stimulation capabilities. Additionally, we have developed wireless systems that enable interference-free recording of neural signals in behaving animals. In this presentation, we will share experimental results demonstrating our probe’s functionality in monitoring and modulating dual-mode (electrical and chemical) neural activity within a co-localized region, as well as in vivo recordings from behaving animals.
