Forbidden Spells
In this world magick is an incredibly useful tool, shaping our lives in many ways and causing great innovations in the way of science and technology. However, there is a dark side to magick, a side better not spoken of: the forbidden spells. Magick so dangerous it could put the entire world, galaxy, or even starsphere in jeopardy. But I am a woman of science, so these forbidden spells must be studied and discussed so that no one ever cares to seek out their power again. These are the forbidden spells of Zutara.
Spells that are not normally world-ending, but can be very dangerous in the wrong hands or if misused.
Wish: A faith-type spell that can grant any one wish. The wish is granted exactly how it is worded and almost nothing is off limits. But there are some rules. Firstly, you cannot use a wish to transcend the will of Barbello and alter fate. Secondly, you cannot use a wish to destroy or massively alter the starsphere or greater multiverse. Outside those two rules, almost nothing is off limits. Due to the vast scope and endless possibilities of this spell, it is extremely dangerous and can come with severe consequences if worded poorly. Therefore, use of this spell is forbidden.
Mass Polymorph: A spell that can transform any number of people into anything the caster so desires. This spell is forbidden due to its frequent use by the Tzga Order to spread chaos across worlds.
Spells that are so powerful that they drain far more ether from the natural ether field as possible. If overused these spells can cause the natural degradation and the possible destruction of the ether field, causing the full effects of the Curse of S.K.I.N. to take hold and destroy all society through humanity’s own inherent evil. Even just a little bit of damage to the universal ether field can cause a massive climate cataclysm that could destroy the entire ecosystem as well as greatly damage the ability to use magick at all and damage the very souls of all magickal beings. Therefore, use of these tremendously powerful spells are forbidden.
Expiration: The fell dragon Adonis’ ultimate attack that sends out a massive blast of unholy almighty magick that can destroy a large city in a single blast. It drains a tremendous amount of ether to cast. It is an elder magick spell.
Forblaze: The ultimate anima magick that creates flames so hot that they can melt solid titanium. It drains a tremendous amount of ether to cast and is the signature spell of Astos Replica. It is cast automatically by the Ragnarok Arm Ars Notoria.
Aureola: The ultimate faith magick that shoots out a barrage of seraphic light that disintegrates anything it touches. It drains a tremendous amount of ether to cast and is the signature spell of Elene Replica. It is cast automatically by the Ragnarok Arm Ars Theurgia.
Apocalypse: The ultimate elder magick that summons a literal black hole maintained by a dozen mystic runes to destroy everything. It drains a tremendous amount of ether to cast and was the signature spell of Xenoki’s first incarnation. It is cast automatically by the Ragnarok Arm Ars Goetia.
Ereshkigal: An elder magick spell that summons a barrage of mini black holes to attack enemies. It drains a tremendous amount of ether and was the signature spell of Narshe Brandon.
Naglafar: An elder magick spell that reigns dark meteors down on enemies. It drains a tremendous amount of ether.
Imhulu: An anima magick spell that creates an unbreakable wind barrier around the user that damages anyone who attacks. The only way to break the barrier is with a dragon fang, all-powerful weapons that spawn only when a seraphim is killed. It drains a tremendous amount of ether while in use.
Spells that are not world-ending, but are highly immoral to use against others or the user. Therefore, their use is forbidden.
Bability: A chaos spell that reverts the target into the mind and body of an infant. It is forbidden due to its erasure of memories, the self, and all functions.
Mindmolder: A chaos spell that alters the mind of the target to anything the caster desires. This can range from simple unconscious personality changes to full-on identity rewrites. Due to the potential for this spell to be used to destroy someone’s self and consciousness and mold it into something unrecognizable, this spell is forbidden.
Inanimus: A chaos spell that can turn living organisms into inanimate objects. This cursed state causes the target to be unable to see, hear, touch, smell, speak, taste, or move, but they are still very much conscious and will remain so until every last piece of their new inanimate bodies is destroyed. A fate worse than death for most people, though some permanently cursed into becoming a literal object can eventually learn to control their joints with magick, that is, if they have anything that can actually move. Therefore, this spell is forbidden for its highly immoral nature.
Scionify: A elder magick spell that transforms the caster into a Scion, spirit beings that attain complete immortality with the cost of being bound to the “summoner” that possesses their “animus”, the core of their being, and are forced to obey all of their commands, even against their own will. Their personalities are also greatly molded based on their summoner, and they reset to “factory settings” whenever their summoner dies and they return to their animus. Due to the high cost of casting this spell and the revocating of essential laws of free will, the spell is forbidden.
Curse of Undeath: An elder magick spell that makes the user immortal at the cost of their cells being unable to regenerate upon being harmed. This means that if they suffer a cut, their wounds would not heal, but they would not die from blood loss. These cursed beings are known as “liches”, and many of them shed their flesh entirely to become mere skeletons powered solely by hate and dark magick. Eventually the hate that the spell compels consumes them, their minds are taken over by the Archon’s Curse, and they become mindless terrors. Due to the staggering cost this spell requires and the vast amount of harm it can cause to the user, it is forbidden.
Petrify: An elder magick spell that turns the target slowly to stone permanently with no way of reversal without a Seraphim or other divine being intervening. The person that is turned to stone is still fully sentient, they just cannot move, speak, hear, taste, touch, or smell, and will not truly die until every last piece of their petrified body is destroyed. Due to the highly immortal nature of this spell, it is forbidden.
Eternal Return: An elder magick spell that summons the crimson calamity, bringing ruin to the world. It was only used 3 times in history, first by accident by the Oracles who sought to bring Emily Jones back to her own time but were tricked by Natasha Neibros who wanted to use the cover of the calamity to fake her death. The second time was by Regent Trello during the events of Chronicles Meteorfall. This time the Crimson Calamity was stopped, but not at the cost of the hero Tayo’s life, who he sacrificed in order to send the crimson meteor to another dimension. The third time was intentionally by the Heroes of Truth during the events of Chronicles III, who after the means of destroying Baetylus, spirit of the crimson meteor’s soul once and for all, merged the dark and light worlds, performing the rite of eternal return, and destroyed the meteor from the inside including Baetylus’ very soul.
Spells that can completely destroy planets, including all life on them.
Holy Deluge - A faith-based light magick spell that summons a flood of light to consume all matter across a single planet and perform a “reset” of everything, returning the planet and all life on it to a primordial state. This is the spell that caused the 13th Calamity, summoned by Sakura Satori in order to completely wipe out the evil nephilhim.
Reality Bubble - A spell that creates an observation distortion field, altering the perception of anyone inside the bubble to match what the user observes, aka believes to be true. If the bubble ever pops, the blast could destroy an entire planet. The spell was used only once on Zutara by Morgana Le Fey in order to convince the people of Camelot that the “Holy Grail” didn’t exist in a last ditch attempt to save the world from the Grail Wars. It didn’t work and just ended up making things worse as the Holy Grail itself, actually the Unholy Grail and a relic of dark, was beyond understanding, making it immune to the reality bubble. This only delayed the inevidible of someone figuring out how to use the Unholy Grail and doom the world. Artorias had to stop Morgan Le Fey and revert the bubble without popping it and risk blowing up the planet. Artorias eventually sealed the bubble within his sword Caliburn, which made it brittle and unstable, causing it to break during his duel with his bastard son Mordred and cost him his life, though he was later revived by the fairies of the lady of the lakes court and transformed into a fairy fencer to defeat Mordred once and for all and save the world.
Vioflux: A horrific spell that transforms the target into an unspeakable mass of tentacles, boobs, and vaginas. Anyone this monster touches is brought into its hivemind and also transformed, until all life on the planet has become a fleshy, tentacled mound of boobs and vaginas. Obviously due to its disgusting power and high chance of ending all life on a planet, it is forbidden.
Zetaflare: An incredibly powerful almighty-elemental anima spell that spreads out bursts of nuclear rays across an entire planet. This can easily destroy a planet wholesale, and if not wipe out all surface life.
Dark Infinito: Send one foe into the eternal darkness of Zaharas. Requires the sacrifice of a dragonkin’s heart.
Witch Virus: Transforms the target or the user into a “Witch”, a vampiric, immortal species of all-female magick users who feast on human flesh. Witches possess no sense of morality, and will kill, convert, or consume anyone they find who isn’t one of their brood.
Universe Destroyer Tier
Spells that can destroy an entire starsphere or timeline.
Timewarp: Transcend fate and become “chrono-spaient”, a traveler across time and space whose existence transcends fate and can travel to any time period or timeline freely, their actions influencing the rest of their relative history. After using this spell, the chrono sapient can never return to their own time, and their existence itself is a paradox and anomaly to the natural order of the timeline.
Curse of Extinction: A spell that destroys all of time and space. Only usable by ELLUM.
