Timelines
In the Zutara multiverse, there are far more than one singular branch of the timeline, many branches in fact, each leading to vastly different results. In this datalog, all major branches of the timeline will be revealed. Let’s get started. The first timeline was the original, unaltered timeline, known only as “perfect history” or the “Alpha Worldline.” In this timeline, all events played out normally from the creation of Zutara all the way through the climax of the events of Chronicles Tactics. This is when the first decision point of the universe is created which would lead into two completely different histories. In the Alpha Worldline, the hero Dargo betrays the Theocracy of Zophia, kills its leader, captures Rose Satori, and joins with the rival Gotoro Empire. However, in the “Beta Worldline,” also known as “Stardust History,” Dargo continues to side with Zophia, completing the ritual of the holy flame and successfully defeating the Gotoro Empire and uniting the continent under the rule of the clergy.
The Alpha Worldline continues past that decision point, where while Gortoro wins the war for a time, a rebellion rises up and defeats Gotoro ultimately. Eventually the crimson calamity occurs, nearly destroying the world. However, the world was eventually able to recover. While there were some struggles along the way like Baron Ozma attempting to conquer the world using the power of Rose Satori’s divine blade, they were always stopped and eventually Zutara entered a time of great peace and prosperity.
Meanwhile, in the Beta Worldline, eventually the Theocracy of Magia Zophia fell and became split between the peaceful and nature loving Ferngulf Republic and the hateful, technology driven, and highly immoral Neo Gotoro Empire. Over time, even the Ferngulf Republic was corrupted, falling prey to a rising mega corporation named the Juju Corporation that began to control every aspect of the world, leading to the events of a certain farming sim and it's sequel…
However, back in the Alpha Worldline, there lived a cult member known as Trello who sought to bring back the strife that plagued past generations, as he believed that humanity had grown soft over time. Mysteriously, Trello’s soul was sent 3000 years back in time in a mechanical body, so Trello began his plan to summon the Crimson Meteor to prevent his timeline from ever coming into being. However, what Trello didn’t know was that his very presence in the past would greatly alter history, no matter if he summoned the Crimson Meteor or not, due to the butterfly effect. Eventually, Trello was stopped by Koros Satori, descendant of Rose Satori, and his allies, defeating Trello and sealing away Baetylus upon his summoning.
This point in time leads to many possible futures, each different from the last. Due to the events of Trello’s time travel, the Worldline shifted once again from the Alpha Worldline to the Gamma Worldline, also known as “True History.” However, that is but one of many results of Trello’s time travel.
If Koros chooses to try to find another way to stop Baetylus from destroying the world that wouldn’t cause Tayo to have to die, Koros encounters a mysterious man who tells him to forgo this path and follow the chosen path laid out for him. If Koros chooses to progress past this point and take out the avatars of the 7 archfiends within the depths of the caverns below the Tower of Babel, the tower will collapse. Thinking they won, Koros and his allies fail to realize that a second Baetylus has appeared and crashes into Omegas, causing the second crimson calamity. This results in a world of darkness where terrors have reached a new, even more deadly stage of evolution. New heroes rise to take on the threat, and the new hero, the hero of darkness Nahash, either gives into temptation to gain ultimate power and destroy the universe, follows the lead of the Grigoiri and erases free will from all humans in order to stop the threat of the terrors, or chooses neither path and fights for humanity and humanity alone. These are the events of “Chronicles Black”, the tale of a doomed world. A version of this timeline following Chronicles Black’s “neutral ending” is visited during the second half of “Chronicles III: Ascension.”
Another result is the “Epsilon Worldline” or “Boundless History” where reality and cognition is distorted to an extent that the Reapers of Time have to get involved to erase the timeline, but are each defeated by the newly ascended heroes who then ensure a happy future for everyone, regardless of what any deity thinks. However, the canon result will always be the result that leads to the Gamma Worldline, so let’s continue from there. Thousands of years later, the events of Chronicles IV: The Last Dragon's Elegy occur which can result in 4 different new worldlines or continue down the existing Gamma Worldline. In the game Chronicles IV there are 24 endings, each marked as Ending A to Ending Z. Only Endings A, B, C, D, X, Y, and Z are relevant. Every other ending (Endings F-W) are false bad/joke endings that always get undone by the Seraphim Kairos anyways, so they don’t count.
Ending A results in the Gamma Worldline continuing as planned, in which the hero Ryuuta Satori, grandson of Koros Satori, discovers the truth about his birth, defeats the true mastermind behind the scouring war, and rejects his destiny as the savior of dragonkind. Ending B instead results in the “Zeta Worldline” or “Revival History” in which Ryuuta rejects his destiny as the savior of dragonkind and seals away the true mastermind behind the scouring war, but never discovers the secrets of his birth. The mastermind behind the war eventually returns and wreaks havoc on the world once again, and it is unknown if humanity ever survived his relentless attacks for all time, returning every 500 years again and again.
Ending C is much more dire, resulting in the depressing “Eta Worldline” or “Demon History” where Ryuuta accepts his fate as the savior of dragonkind, becoming the legendary Demon Dragon and wreaking havoc on mankind with his uncontrollable rage. Ryuuta’s former allies then have to form an unlikely alliance with Devon Hartmut and his generals in order to defeat a corrupted Ryuuta. However, by the time they defeat Dark Ryuuta, humanity is already dead and the world is ruined. In Ending D, the last main non-secret ending, Ryuuta accepts his demise at the hands of Devon Harmut. Devon and his army successfully win the Scouring Wars and push dragonkind to the brink of extinction with very few dragons remaining, all living in hiding. History is rewritten to make it seem like Devon was in the right, and humans continue onwards as the new dominant species, the age of dragons finally reaching its end. This results in the “Theta Worldline” or “Devon History." The events of a certain TRPG duology take place in this branch of the timeline.
Endings X, Y, and Z are all secret endings. All three lead to realms beyond time as well as potential time loops, so none of them really count for the overall timeline. Instead, we will continue onwards with the gamma worldline. 1000 years after the events of Chronicles IV, war breaks out due to mages abusing the power of the Titans to greatly strengthen their magick and cause massive devastation across the world. In order to put an end to the war, magick itself was destroyed, killing all monsters in the world, turning all magickal humanoids into regular humans, and permanently preventing the use of all Magick.
About 800 years after Magick disappeared from the world, a new energy source appeared known as Theron. Theron was very similar to Magick, granting random superpowers onto people based on their personality. People across the world began randomly developing superpowers, leading to mass chaos. Eventually, the events of the Boltman Saga would take place, leading to the destruction of the mad interdimensional tyrant Drakos and the rise of the Titans, who would bring an end to all reality just as Kairos planned for millions of years. This was stopped however by Titanium Woman, who used a time wish to erase the Titans from existence, preventing the war of the sages from ever happening and restoring Magick to the world. This created a new timeline, the Iota Worldline, the final worldline which would lead to the final battle of Armageddon and the true end of this story…
