The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning. This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student.
Description: A mini unit lesson plan that describes the different accommodations and modifications utilized within the population of students I work with.
Connection: This artifact aligns with the 5H knowledge indicators "understands when and how to adapt or modify instruction based on outcome data, as well as student needs, goals, and responses." Being able to differentiate instruction between varying abilities and diagnoses, is based on the teachers ability to be creative and problem solve student concerns in order to grow and learn new skills. Teachers are constantly modifying and making changes in order to enhance student learning and growth.
Importance: Without the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment, students will not reach their full potential. All students need to be considered in every single lesson to ensure inclusion, equity and respect for all.
Description: Developmental Learning Program of Eisenhower Cooperative was created based on CASE curriculum. We utilized CASE as a guide to develope a curriculum for DLP. As the school year went on we continue to fill out the curiculum and continue to develop and add or omit units based on student needs.
Connection: This artifact aligns with the performance indicator KQ "uses effective co-planning and co-teaching techniques to deliver instruction to all students" being able to collaborate with CASE and develop a curriculum as a guideline to meet all standards throughout the year help in student growth to ensure they are ready for the next year ahead.
Importance: Meeting all standards for each grade is highly important to student growth and learning. As teachers we want to continue to buld upon previously learned skills in order for students to continue to understand, and carry over knowledge into the next year.
