Capstone
CONTEXT
Generative AI encompasses any model that can generate new data from existing trained data and is increasingly applied today in creating images, texts, and audio in a multi-modal fashion. Google has released BARD, OpenAI has released ChatGPT, and Meta has released Llama which will be the focus of my capstone. Such companies will drive the next technological revolution. Hence, I want my capstone to be a valuable stepping stone in building the foundations of generative AI that can translate to a full-time career as a Machine Learning engineer.
TOPIC
I will work with Dr. Yang Shen in the Department of Electrical Engineering on a generative AI project involving multimodal learning of proteins, creating ways to synthesize new proteins with functions from individual amino acids, and decoding existing proteins into amino acid sequences that serve as data to the model. That way, given a molecular identity, we can determine the system function.
