I was selected as one of 150+ leads in North America to lead the Google Developer Student Club chapter at Texas A&M. GDSC are university-based groups that bridge the gap between theory and practice through technical workshops, study jams, and live panels that are empowered by Google technologies and taught by Google technical experts. My core team of 5 organized 8 events for a community of over 100 people.
I served as a Workshops Officer for Aggie Data Science Club in a team of 8 to teach technical Data Science workshops ranging from Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-Learn, PySpark, and more.Â
I joined the SKY@TAMU organization at Texas A&M and became a SKY Service Leader for Social Media Marketing. I documented videos and photos of SKY Events. coordinated with other leaders to plan events and posts, edited and shared posts and stories on SKY@TAMU Instagram Page, and taught introductory breathwork and meditation programs for students and faculty. In 2021, I raised $230 in the COVID-19 Relief fundraiser for India through the global Art of Living Foundation.
Prior knowledge
I connected with SKY@TAMU with prior experience editing photos and videos for my Youtube Channel. I was actively involved in spreading environmental awareness as a Secretary of Outreach in the Environmental Club in high school. In a similar way, I wanted to serve society by promoting mental health for Aggies on social media! I believe I can promote mental health by being a Sophomore Advisor for the Honors Housing community.
Led a team of 4 and developed a web application for Wienerspiel to raise social media awareness for animals
Developed a React, Firebase, and Flask app and API deployed on Google Cloud and Netlify
Organized over 5 months of scrum meetings and maintained communication with our Wienerspiel client
Created and distributed weekly tasks on Trello Board among team members by employing structured thinking
Prior Knowledge
I was always passionate about social media outreach when it came to biodiversity. I demonstrated knowledge of plants and animals in high school, and I loved to educate people about them. Being a WWF ambassador in high school enabled me to educate the younger generation about environmental issues. This project was an opportunity to be involved in social media and web development, and show my love for animals to the community.
Going forward
My involvement with Developer Student Clubs motivated me to become the club's chapter lead and inspire other students to start their developer journey.
