Project Description
Within this section of my ePortfolio, I have explored how data and databases have continued to contribute to the structure of modern technology.
Throughout this CSIT 101 class, I have learned a lot, and when I say a lot, I truly mean it. Before this class, the most captivating thing I discovered was the wide range of features within Microsoft Office. Honestly, I had no idea that Word offered so many tool options. I always thought Word was just a basic typing program, but clearly, I was wrong. Microsoft Word has so many features but the ones that stood out the most was the citation toolbox, the navigation pane, and even 3D models that move. Oh my gosh! Like witnessing all of that was so incredible especially because I am millennial and technology was never this advanced.
Now, PowerPoint is something I’ve always loved, but learning how to fully utilize its animation settings, transitions, and even learning how to share links with multiple people so that we as a group could collaborate on the same project was AMAZING. It made me appreciate PowerPoint so much more.
Oh, and let’s not forget Excel. So, I will be completely honest, I have always stayed far away from Excel. But taking those SIMpath modules was truly a blessing in disguise because, honey, me and Excel do not go hand in hand. Still, after learning how to navigate through it, especially how to input formulas and input graphs, I can finally say with my chest poked out that I Kira Sanders have a better understanding how useful Excel really is.
Understanding the value of the different types of Microsoft applications has shown me how essential these tools are especially for my future career as a School Psychologist. One of the primary tools that is used within this field, is creating professional documentation, behavioral reports, and clear communicational skills. Moving forward towards my career goal, has helped me to realize that I will oversee writing psychological assessments, invention plans, and progress notes, each requiring structure. Learning how to utilize those same Microsoft applications for its advanced features such as the formatting options, navigation pane, and the citation toolbox will enhance my ability to produce a more organized and polished documents. These skills will effectively improve my communicational skills with teachers, parents, and colleagues which will ensure that I am professional and accessible.
