O-Week can be paid for through E-Transfer (75$) to the KSU. You can also pay Day-Of (which costs slightly more--80$) in cash. Go to Paying for O-Week for more information.
The KSU Orientation week is almost completely funded by student payments. We do our best to keep it as affordable as possible, while still being able to provide fun and exciting events for all students! If money is an issue keeping you from participating, please email us at kingsorientation2026@gmail.com. Short answer: Nope!
Long answer: No events are mandatory; if there's only a few events that interest you, feel free to attend some and skip the others. We provide a wide range of events so that you can find something that interests you. We strongly recommend attending our Know Your Rights, Know Your Resources event, as well as Waves of Change and the Services & Societies Fair. These events contain crucial information regarding student supports at King's, sexual health and safety at university, and our campus societies and clubs.
Halifax is very rainy. It can also be very cold. On the occassional summer day, you will be blessed with three hours of the hottest sun possible. It is a coastal city, and so we get lots of winds coming in from the sea! Bring a rain jacket, rainboots, and an umbrella.
Our beloved dorms are fickle creatures. One night, you could wake up with frostbite. Two days later, you might sweat through the sheets. Best to bring a bedsheet set with multiple layers/blankets, so you can add or remove as necessary.
