The number of students taking classes online learning is growing. But learning online is different than learning in a face-to-face classroom and many students do not pass their classes leading to high attrition rates among students. Lowes and Lin described that when students begin to learn online, they “…not only need to learn a subject online but need to learn how to learn online.” What if there were a person that worked with students specifically with these needs in mind? This exists in some schools where teachers, administrators, and counselors work as on-site facilitators or mentors to champion students as they go through their courses.
