According to Emilie Futterman (2013), "infographics are graphic visual representations of data that are intended to present complex information quickly and clearly" (source) to a wide audience. Information is visually represented it so you see data trends, time-series, maps, and relationships in one easy-to-read product. They are helpful because they make data easy to see and understand. That data is communicated quickly and easily in a creative format.
