Vitren | Facilitation

Vitren is simply the practice of vitre.

It is the process of preparing to undertake a spiritual practice (such as meditation or prayer) by ensuring that the environment around us, as well as within us, is suitable for the practice in mind. Quite simply, vitren means "to facilitate spirituality".

Explanation

Since practising spirituality usually involves the ardt (the inner-self), part of the process of vitren is preparing oneself to practise. However, since the ardt is affected by the ihre, (the external atmosphere) and vice versa, according to the Baden Principle, the process of vitren is thus also about preparing the ihre so that it facilitates the spiritual practice (this can be achieved by practising ihrekhunciünen).

The practice of vitren then is a meditative and mindful form of preparing to practise spirituality. This practice is undertaken in order to prepare one's inner-self for the benefits of spirituality whilst also preparing one's surroundings to minimise distractions and enhance the spirituality being practised. The aim of vitren is simply to make oneself and one's environment conducive to spiritual practice. The aim of vitren is to facilitate spirituality.

Theory

The Baden Principle suggests that what is in the ihre around us is absorbed by us (inbaden) and has an effect on our ardt. Similarly, what is within our ardt is projected (ütbaden) into our own personal ihre as well as that of the place we are in. When it comes to spiritual practice then, which has a strong effect on the ardt, it is important that these absorptions and projections (this baden) is conducive, if not beneficial, to the practice at hand.

By tailoring the ihre around us to facilitate the spiritual practice we are undertaking, we are able to subtly and unconsciously inbaden that ihre, which helps accentuate the effect the spiritual practice is having on our ardt. Likewise, the benefits of the spiritual practice may then be subtly and unconsciously projected outwards (ütbaden) into the ihre, allowing a beneficial spiritual cycle to be maintained.

For example, if someone were to undertake mindfulness meditation in order to gain peace, they may facilitate this spiritual practice by making the ihre around them peaceful. They may play peaceful music, light some scented candles or burn some essential oils to relax them, and also dim the lights. These things are typical of the practice of ihrekhunciünen which is instrumental to the practice of vitren. These things physically relax the body, but also create an atmosphere of peace.

According to the Baden Principle, this peaceful ihre would be absorbed by the person as they prepare to practise the meditation, as well as whilst they practised, which would assist in them receiving its benefits. They would be facilitating spirituality. Additionally, whilst they practised they would be projecting a demeanour/aura (an ihre) of peacefulness into the atmosphere, which would also benefit them as they practised.

Practice

In short, the practice of vitren is the intentional preparation and facilitation of spirituality, undertaken by being mindful of the Baden Principle and its effects on the ardt and the ihre. The practice of ihrekhunciünen is instrumental to a more fulfilling vitren practice, and may be done with the benefits and aims of the spiritual practice in mind. One will do ihrekhunciünen to make the ihre peaceful if one's aim is peace. Joy, forgiveness, presence, and self-connection are examples of other aims and benefits of certain spiritual practices which may be sought after during the practice of ihrekhunciünen.

The practice of vitren may be done regularly in order to further benefit from the extant spiritual practice of a person, whether it be meditation, prayer, yoga, singing hymns etc. Additionally, it may be practised before undertaking the Kibtisk spiritual practice of ardzýn in order to gain deeper insight in the state of one's ardt. The practice of vitren, alongside ihrekhunciünen is also a key component of the Kibtisk spiritual aim of ihrabaden.

Thus one does ihrekhunciünen in order to vitren, and does vitren in order to practise spirituality. One adjusts the atmosphere to facilitate spirituality, and by facilitating spirituality, one may practise.
