The Kibtisk conlang is an a posteriori conlang, which means that it is a constructed language which is based on existing languages. Kibtisk is mainly based on English, but also at times draws inspiration from the other Germanic languages (German, Danish, Norwegian etc.) as well as Old English.
It was created by a university student in 2017 as a hobby, but quickly began to be used as a means of expressing concepts that are inexpressible in English, and as a means of expressing more abstract and spiritual concepts in an alternative way.
What has evolved since is a language and philosophy which hopes to offer people (mainly English speakers and those who live in the Western world) an alternative vocabulary to use to express their spirituality and life-journey without the connotations that come from the various religious and spiritual practices which exist in the English speaking and Western worlds. Whether that is using the few Kibtisk words that are presented on this site, or whether that is learning Kibtisk as a foreign language, the aim is to offer an alternative spiritual and philosophical vocabulary as we journey through life together.
You can learn the Kibtisk language as a second language on our Learn Kibtisk site, or check out the Glossary for the basic words of the Kibtisk Way.
