Diaphysis- The long cylindrical main portion of the bone.
Epiphysis-Distal and proximal ends of the bone.
Epiphyseal Line- A layer of hyaline cartilage that allows the bone's diaphysis to grow in length.
Cortical Bone (Compact)-Contains a few spaces and is the strongest form of bone tissue.
Cancellous Bone (Spongy)-Makes up most of the bone tissue of short, flat, and irregularly shaped bones.
Periosteum-Tough sheath of dense irregular connective tissue that surrounds the bone surface.
