Unexpectedly, on two counts, I was invited to join in with the iGGi research retreat in June. Unexpected as it was an industry contact who reccomended me and that my workplace released me to go to it. It was a fabulous view into a completely different world of academia that I don't normally get to participate in. Hopefully more collaborations in the same vein to come.
An achievement? To be honest more of an event HOWEVER Expo was on the evening of the final day of iGGi so I did that, got onto a train for 5 hours, arrived at 2pm, organised all of the tables and computers and student demos (with student assistance of course), had arranged the speakers, did all of the on night filming, welcomed the visitors and, at the end of it, relaxed into quite a large feeling of tiredness! Was a fabulous evening and some of the things I'd aimed for came off brilliantly (I was VERY relieved that our non games playing keynote speaker did an amazing job).
More of that sort of thing in >>Events<<.
An oldie but...
A decade ago I entered a competition to win an iPad 3 and screen brushes from a company I loved (Nomad screen brushes). Can't remember what the theme was at all but, unwisely it turned out) I told my daighter she could have the iPad if I won (as I was convinced I wouldn't).
I won, and, I guess, I also got a lot of Dad points which was also nice :)
Another thing I'm a HUGE fan of: BETTshow - the world's largest education trade and technology show hosted in London every year.
I've been for the past... 14 or so? (and spoken on the smaller stages at least 6 times) but arguably my favourite achievement (apart from this years ROCKING of the eSports stages with team Rocket Banana) was being a part of the Kids Judge Bett winning Microsoft Hack the Classroom gig in association with the US edu-masters in 2019.
Sadly wasn't invited to be in the group photo sigh but still, made me smile lads when I heard the collaboration had won.
test xcoming soon
