KathyHusserTempeKathy Husser lives in Tempe, Arizona with her Boston Terrier Maisy! She has worked as a librarian for 23 years, and started in customer service to ultimately reach her goal as the Director at the Tempe Public Library. She graduated from Arizona State University and earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Arizona. Kathy earned over $130,000 in grants to assist with workforce development, co-working spaces, and training. Under her direction, Tempe had the first StoryWalk® and Book Bike to provide services outside the library walls. She secured another $100,000 in Friends donations for a Learning Lab and Tween Space. Kathy was the Legislative Chair for the Arizona Library Association. In 2019, Kathy Husser and team earned the IMLS National Medal nomination, which is the highest honor achieved by a library in the United States, summarizing her leadership in Arizona libraries.
