During the eight-week Everyday Arts Lab after-school program, my teaching team and I created lesson plans designed to allow students to learn about Black artists in today's world. Each lesson was centered around a specific artist, and we held class discussions about the messages and meanings behind each of the artist's work. Students were able to reflect and communicate their understanding of these concepts through the artwork they made.
