Chiffon Thomas
During this two-day lesson, students learned about Chiffon Tomas and their work. On the first day, the students were asked to draw a picture of a memory they had that was meaningful and influenced who they are today. This concept was extracted from Thomas' work, where they oftentimes use their memory to explore their identity. On the second day of the lesson, students explored another facet of Thomas' work, using three-dimensional, recycled materials. With plastic cassette boxes and an array of random found objects and trinkets, students constructed and arranged materials within the boxes. Many students wound up creating stories through this process.
