Rationale: This multimedia artifact, a video presentation accompanied by an interactive Genially quiz, examines the pedagogical foundations and applied uses of gamification in educational settings. I selected this work because it exemplifies the kind of cross-disciplinary, technology-enhanced instruction that I advocate for in my professional practice. Gamification principles align naturally with the DIR®/Floortime approach I use clinically, which emphasizes intrinsic motivation, joyful engagement, and developmentally responsive interaction. Creating this artifact also allowed me to develop competency in multimedia instructional design, a skill I will continue to apply in professional development contexts. The interactive quiz component demonstrates my understanding that assessment and engagement can be integrated seamlessly in digital learning environments.
Rationale: This research paper examines the emerging field of neurotechnology and its applications for students with special educational needs, analyzing both the opportunities and ethical considerations involved. I selected this as a signature artifact because it is the most direct academic expression of my professional identity, sitting at the intersection of neuropsychology, special education, and educational technology. As a specialist in developmental neuropsychology with over 20 years of experience supporting neurodiverse children, I brought firsthand knowledge to this scholarly analysis. This work anticipates the direction of my dissertation research and demonstrates my capacity to contribute original, interdisciplinary scholarship to the field.
Rationale: This creative project involved the design of a Technology Theme Park as a metaphorical and practical framework for exploring cross-disciplinary applications of technology in education. The theme I developed, conflict resolution through technology, draws directly from my published bilingual workbook, My Magic Guide to Conflict Resolution, and reflects my commitment to integrating social-emotional learning with digital tools. I selected this artifact because it is both innovative and personally meaningful, demonstrating my ability to connect academic coursework with real-world creative and therapeutic practice. The project also showcases my competency in web-based digital design and my capacity to engage learners through imaginative, purpose-driven technology experiences.
