Welcome to the Sun Life Junior Challenge
The Sun Life Financial Junior Challenge is an annual invitational Junior Curling Cash bonspiel featuring some of the best up and coming young curlers. It is held every November in Brandon, MB.
The date for the 2023 Sun Life Junior Challenge will be November 16-19, 2023.
Past participants include Mackenzie Zacharias' 2020 World Championship team; Jacques Gauthier's 2020 World Championship Gold Medalist team; Braden Calvert's World Championship team; National Champion and Brier Bronze medalist Matt Dunstone (Canada), Olympian and 2016 Scottie's Tournament of Hearts Champion Jocelyn Peterman (Canada), 2014 USA Junior Men's Champion Jake Vuhich, and 2016 USA Junior Women's Champion and World Silver Medalist Cory Christensen.
It is the goal of the Sun Life Financial Junior Challenge to provide an optimum level of competition, while at the same time ensuring growth and sportsmanship from every athlete.
Chairman's Message
Welcome all curlers, coaches, parents and fans to the 11th annual (with a bit of a COVID break) Sun Life Junior Challenge. Again this event promises to provide a very exciting weekend of competition. We will witness an outstanding display of curling as we showcase some of the top junior curlers from Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, North Dakota, and Minnesota.
These teams are ones that have either won or placed very well in their respective provincial or state play-downs. We will no doubt see a number of the teams or players that are competing this weekend, eventually playing in National play-downs of some kind in the future.
The Sun Life Junior Challenge would not be possible with out the support of the business community and numerous volunteers. Sun Life continues to be our gracious title sponsor. We are very grateful for the support they have provided. We have fantastic support from numerous local businesses. All Sun Life Junior Challenge games are played at the Brandon Curling Club, located in the Keystone Centre in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.
The facility includes an 8-sheet rink, upper and lower level viewing lounges with a combined capacity of over 300 spectators. The lower level viewing lounge includes food and beverage services at the Keystone Cafe.
