Creating an environment where students feel safe to explore their creativity, make mistakes, and ask for help is one that is rooted in respect and rapport. This environment is one that lacks judgment and encourages mindfulness. For me, this means I must develop a strong rapport with my classes and with students one on one.
A culture for learning is one where students are encouraged and rewarded for learning. Each student's learning process should be valued and supported. Upon entering the classroom, students will walk into an enviroment where learning flourishes and creativity is celebrated. I will keep in mind that each step in the right direction is a good one.
Classroom procedures must be consistent and foundational. Classroom procedures create a foundational understanding of how the classroom works, and so must be taught early in the learning process.
