This summer, your child will have the opportunity to get some free summer instruction on their band instruments before school starts! Each student will have two lessons a week for two weeks, along with full band rehearsals. The summer band program will culminate in a performance on the evening of August 20th for all 7th and 8th Grade band students at the High School South Campus.
Summer band can be a great way to start reuniting with your classmates in 7th and 8th grade and get to know me a little bit more before school starts! It is also a great chance to start getting back into the musical groove, since most kids are often too busy having fun throughout the summer having fun to practice consistently (as they should be).
Use the link embedded link or the one below to access the summer band schedule. Please make sure to note the dates of your child's lesson (it's two weeks in a row, with lessons either being M/W, or T/Th), with the combined band practice being every day from M-Th, open to everyone.
Please use the embedded link or the one below to complete the Summer Band Availability Form to indicate your student's participation in Summer Band! This is just to help me get an idea who will be there in August. You may submit the form at any time this summer!

Summer Band will be held at the JTL Intermediate. Signs will be posted to help guide you, but if you enter through the main lobby, all the instructional classrooms for summer band will be down the hallway to the right.
Students should plan on bringing their instruments, their Accent on Achievement or Sound Innovations Lesson book, and a pencil. If your child plays bass clarinet, french horn, euphonium, or tuba, I'll have them ready for you at JTL for their first lesson.
Students are encouraged to come to as much of summer band as possible. Please know that I completely understand that many families have commitments throughout the summer, between camps, vacations, and other types of activities. Summer band is definitely a low-key way to start getting back into things, so even if your child can only make one lesson or rehearsal, or is gone one week but available the next, I'd love to have the opportunity to work with them!
