Passage and House Doors

I started making passage doors a few years ago and have found them to be very challenging and rewarding. Doors are pretty large on the woodworking scale but require fairly tight tolerances. I really like how a well designed and built door can truly transform the look of the space around it.

Arched French Doors

I built these arched French doors, as well as a companion rectangular divided light door to match a door and trim in another room. The rectangular door is 32" wide, the arched doors are each 36" wide. The doors are made of rift sawn Sapele to closely match the Philippine mahogany original doors and trim The tempered glass is called "rain".

This is a custom sized house door, about 38" x 84", made from Sapele. It utilizes a hidden bottom seal to adjust to the 1/4" slope of the stone sill.

This is a standard 36 x 80" house door, white oak on the outside and white ash on the inside. I had to add venting to the storm door and 3M heat/UV film was added to the storm door glass to manage the solar gain.

This is my own house door. It's Sapele on the outside and maple on the inside.
