Students will begin taking home Friday Folders this Friday, September 12th!
I use "Friday Folders" as my system to send home student classwork (as well as school flyers/announcements) so that families can see what their child is learning in school.
What are your child's responsibilities?
Most Fridays, students will take home classwork they turned in over the past week or two. Students should bring their Friday Folder to you over the weekend to look at together. Then, they should return their Friday Folders empty on Monday (or any time before the next Friday, when they will receive new papers).
What are your responsibilities?
Please take the papers out of the folder and sign the check-in page (included in the prongs of the folder) to indicate to Ms. Q that you received your child's work.
I encourage you to use your child's classwork as a launching pad for discussions about learning with your child. Look through the papers and use these conversation starters:
"This looks interesting, tell me more about what you learned here!"
"What part of this was most confusing to you?"
"What was the most interesting or surprising thing you learned?"
"What did this activity make you wonder about?"
"Do you want to explore this topic deeper at home? Do you want to explore this topic together on the Internet or at the library?"
"This reminds me of ______. What do you think?"
"How could you teach this to [younger sibling/cousin]?"
"I see you have some unfinished/unanswered questions here. Let's complete it together!"
