Eight Servings
🌟 Ingredients 🌟
🍚 500 g sliced garaetteok (Korean rice cakes), soaked in water for 30 minutes
🥩 300 g thinly sliced beef (sirloin or brisket)
🛢️ 2 teaspoons sesame oil
🍲 6 cups (1.4 liters) beef broth or anchovy-kelp stock
🧄 2 cloves garlic, minced
🧂 1 tablespoon soy sauce
🧊 Salt and pepper, to taste
🥚 2 eggs, beaten
🟫 1 sheet gim (roasted seaweed), shredded
🌿 2 stalks green onion, finely sliced
✨ Optional garnish: julienned egg yolk and egg white (jidan)
👉 Instructions
1️⃣ In a pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned. Toss in minced garlic and stir for another minute.
2️⃣ Pour in your beef or anchovy-kelp broth. Bring it to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Let it simmer for 10–15 minutes for full flavor.
3️⃣ Drain the soaked rice cakes and add them to the simmering soup. Let them cook for about 7–10 minutes or until soft and slightly chewy.
4️⃣ Add soy sauce, salt, and pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning depending on how savory you want it.
5️⃣ Slowly drizzle the beaten eggs into the soup while stirring gently to create egg ribbons.
6️⃣ Ladle into bowls. Garnish with green onions, shredded gim, and optional jidan if you're feeling fancy.
7️⃣ Serve hot with kimchi on the side.
