I would like to thank the Henry Morris Awards for assisting my project. The memorial trust is such an opportunity to young people in Cambridgeshire, and I am honoured to have been able to complete the bike trip with it's support.
Henry Morris (1889 - 1961) served as Chief Education Officer in Cambridgeshire for more than 30 years. His belief was that schools should not only be a place for children to learn: they should be for everyone, his belief was described as "raising the shool-leaving age to 90".
When Morris passed in 1961, a group of his friends decided to honour him by establishing a memorial trust that would fund projects like mine so that young people could experience the excitement of independent travel and study.
I heard about the awards first when my brother received funding to cycle to Amsterdam to explore it's cycling infrastructure. In March '26, I was invited for an interview at Queen's College Cambridge to put forward my idea. The Trustees were impressed by my ideas and performance and I was awarded £200 towards the trip.
