Australia
The Australian Productivity Commission released a Final Report on International Air Services dated 11 September 1998 and its site also has submissions and transcripts from the related public hearings (Adobe Acrobat Reader is required). The Australian Government's response WBM to the Commission's final report was released on 3 June 1999.
In June 2000 an International Air Services Policy Statement was released.
On 21 February 2006 Australia's Transport Minister made a media release on Australian international air services policy (the related press conference transcript).
The Australian National Aviation Policy White Paper was released on 16 December 2009.
In 2023 the Australian Government started consultations on a new aviation policy statement. The final Aviation White Paper - Towards 2050 NEW was released in August 2024.
On 5 September 2023, the Australian Senate established a Select Committee on Commonwealth Bilateral Air Service Agreements. The committee held five public hearings and presented its final report NEW in October 2023.

Canada
In 2005 the then Canadian House of Commons Standing Committee on Transport undertook a study on Air Liberalization and the Canadian airports system. On 25 October 2006 the Canadian Minister of Transport released a consultation document [CHECK] on a New International Air Policy. Blue Sky: Canada's New International Air Policy was issued on 27 November 2006.
Under the Policy Canada has made major progress in negotiating expanded, new and open skies-type agreements.
European Union
The IATA tariffs setting system underwent intense scrutiny by competition authorities including the European Commission (EC), the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission and the US Department of Transportation. The 2004 IATA response WBM to the EC consultation paper is of interest.
In 2012 the European Commission issued The EU's External Aviation Policy - Addressing Future Challenges
In 2020 the European Commission issued a short Guidance Notice relating to Brexit and Air Transport
Fiji
Fiji released an Aviation Policy NEW in May 2024.
India
India released a National Civil Aviation Policy in 2016. The same year an audit report noted inter alia the extent of sixth-freedom carriage to/from India.
An official paper from 2022 details the capacity, route and fifth freedom restrictions in India's air services arrangements.
Ireland
The National Aviation Policy for Ireland was released on 20 August 2015.
South Africa
South Africa released an Airlift Strategy WBM in 2006.
The South African Government issued a comprehensive White Paper on National Civil Aviation Policy in 2017.
United Kingdom
In October 2006 the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority released Ownership and Control Liberalisation: A Discussion Paper.
On 21 December 2012 a UK international air services policy was published.
The United Kingdom released an Aviation Policy Framework on 22 March 2013.
The UK Government released a consultation document Aviation 2050 - the Future of UK Aviation NEW in December 2018. Following consultations NEW and impacted by COVID-19, the UK Government released Flightpath to the Future NEW in May 2022.
The UK Parliament's House of Commons Transport Committee examined the sector reporting in April 2022: UK aviation: reform for take-off: Government Response to the Committee’s Fifth Report of Session 2021–22.
On 30 June 2022 the UK Government announced a 22-point plan to tackle aviation disruption.
United States
The Statement of United States International Air Transportation Policy was released on 3 May 1995.
Numerous air transport agreements have successfully been negotiated by the US Department of State under this Policy using a model text.
