The 'Net is a great source of information. Have a look at:
DineFind has wide New Zealand coverage.
In Northland, on our honeymoon in Russell at the end of 2002 we had very nice meals at The Gables on The Strand - we went back to the latter three times in 2011. Near Whangarei the Parua Bay Tavern is a pleasant lunch venue. In the suburb of Onerahi TopSail is excellent. We also enjoy Pimarn Thai in the CBD, and No.8 Whangarei and Mokoba Coffee House at the Town Basin.
In Mission Bay, Auckland, I have had good meals at part of the Italian restaurant chain Portofino.
Wellington has a good variety of restaurants. I sometimes ended up dining at Shed 5 or Dockside for business lunches.
In the Wairarapa I have dined at the White Swan in Greytown.
In London I found the Pret A Manger chain great for a quick lunch.
