I began painting when I emigrated from London, England to New Brunswick, Canada in the 1960's.
St Andrews is a beautiful small town, but only had one bar to compensate for its 7 or more churches, and I had no use for the hockey rink that is the centre of attention, nor for the golf club (although wandering the tees I was able to collect mushrooms there in the fall). Fishing and hunting took me into the woods, and despite my lack of success at these outdoor activities, made me appreciate the beauty of the country. Meeting Udo Buerkle, whose father was a skilled oil painter, got me started on a trip I have been on (and off) for much of my life.
