Un Breve Resumé Artistico
John F. Caddy ha iniziato a dipingere in Canada cinquanta anni fa, dove ha esposto come membro dell’ ‘Associazione di Artisti delle Province Maritime’. Ha continuato sua attività artistica dopo il suo arrivo in Italia nel 1979, ma con qualche eccezione (in esibizione di gruppo alla FAO e a Casalpalocco), non ha partecipato molto nel milieu artistica in Italia, nonostante esibizione collettive a Roma e Pisa con il gruppo ‘Artisti per la Pace’.
Il suoi primi quadri erano paesaggi ad acquarello, nel tipico stile di ‘Magic Realism’ del ‘New England’ e Canada orientale nelle anni 70’ (vedi il ‘scrapbook’ di immagine del periodo 1966-1978). In seguito, e cambiato in altre genere più simbolico ò astratto - continuando a sperimentare con una gamma ampia di stile e metodi/materiali. Alcuni immagine in bianco e nero illustrati qui, erano preparati per libri sul poesia, scienza, ed energia vitale. In tutti i suoi quadri, il tema dell’energia della natura viene esaltato.

After Pollock (original version)
This painting was conceived after returning from a movie theatre where I had just seen a film on the work of Jackson Pollock, I tried to use his semi-conscious approach to painting with spray paints and dripping oil paint, and portrays a vision I had while trying for an ‘Out of Body’ state. This was unsuccessful, but I seemed to have arrived between the two hemispheres of the brain, looking ahead into a deep blue ‘nirvana’, but going nowhere. At the same time, sparks of energy were being expelled by me into this infinite space.

This second issue came after photographing the picture, when out of interest, I used the ‘invert’ option to ‘reverse’ the colors in the picture. The second image shows the result, which to my mind, portrays the ‘depth’ of the abstract image more convincingly.
