Living near the ancient town of Ardea, I had the opportunity 10 years ago to become a member of the bass section of the ‘Rutuli Cantores’, a well-regarded choir in the Rome area named after the ‘Temibile Rutuli’ – the Latin tribe from Ardea, which had a fearsome reputation in ancient times.
My musical experience at that time was confined to limited skills on the tin whistle, and an enthusiasm for ‘double chanting’, learned from a ‘teach yourself’ disk sent me by Paul Pena – neither relevant to choral music!
Three recordings by the Rutuli Cantores are included here where I participated in this ensemble: all conducted by Master Constantino Savelloni – a professional musician specialized in choral music.
A video of a joint performance of the choir with the dance group ‘Danzar Gratioso’ and a medieval instrument trio; A. Mazziotti, (flute, crumhorn and bagpipe) S. Colavecchi (lute, tiorba) , and A. Piccioni (percussion). My wife, Franca Zodda, introduced the artists.

2/11/2007: Concert at the Ermita de la Mare, Cambrils.
At the remembrance ceremony for my dear Franca, my personal tribute was a traditional song following the concert by the Rutuli Cantores Choir.
