The goal of the project was the development of a robot prototype able to move over electric power lines for inspection tasks, anomaly detection, wildlife and wildfire monitoring, etc.

Often, power line inspection is made using direct visual inspection by specialists flying helicopters. This is a costly and dangerous form of inspection, which highlights the advantages of a robotic device. Even with the recent rise of drones, there is still added value for this type of solution as it is inherently safer.
