Similar to Peter and the Starcatcher, Hand to God was an incredibly challenging production props-wise which allowed me to have more creative control than ever before. I had to come up with creative solutions so the puppets would be durable enough to endure the intense action they would be put through, while still looking like they were made by teenagers with no prior puppet-making experience. I created an endoskeleton of plastic, foam, and elastic to allow for more control for the actors than a typical sock puppet, covered in a fabric skin made of repurposed socks. There were 9 puppets total, varrying wildly in complexity. In addition to the puppets, I also colaborated with scenic designers Jody Sekas and Ali Lacson to create the set decoration that would turn our performance space into a sunday school anyone could memorize, that would be gradually corrupted into a messy hellscape as the characters' mental states and destructive tendencies worstened. For my work on this production, I was awarded with a KCACTF Certificate of Merit for Excellence in Props Design.Â
