J Lofty is a Chicagoland-based props designer, dramaturg, scene shop assistant, actor, and more. They are a student at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where they are an undergraduate studying Theatre Arts and International Studies. In 2024 they became the recipient of the LMDA Early Career Dramaturgy Award at KCACTF Region 3 for their dramaturgical work in The Laramie Project (2023). Also in 2024, they recieved a KCACTF Certificate of Merit for Excellence in Props Design for their work in Peter and the Starcatcher and Hand to God. While their focus is primarily on props and dramaturgy, they also have experience in lighting, performance, costumes, and charge artistry. They love traveling and learning about people and cultures, frequently combining their passion for theatre with an interest in international studies to explore the theatrical traditions of the world.Â
