Working on Burn, the Musical was definitely a unique experience. This play was still being workshopped, so my usual role in developing a vocabulary and context packet for the actors was not required. Instead, the director requested that I watch the show and develop feedback in order to improve future productions. I shared my thoughts on the characters' arcs and how the historical context was conveyed to the audience, but the conversation eventually turned toward disability accommodations in theatre. I have some auditory processing issues that don't affect my everyday life, but they do make it incredibly difficult to enjoy musicals because I cannot discern lyrics in music. The director and I brainstormed potential ways to help people like me, which I hope to explore at future opportunities in my career.
