Cursed Techniques are one of the most complex and intricate systems within the server and Jujutsu Kaisen as a whole. They act as the manipulation and ways to apply cursed energy, enhancing their usage greatly.
Cursed Technique mastery and abilities are locked behind the CTRL stat for the most part.
Keep in mind a lot of cursed techniques’ stat values are case-by-case as it’s hard to have a set-value in mind for everything when reviewing.
The Base Technique is granted upon having 5 CTRL. This is the technique that outlines the entirety of your cursed technique. ALL sub-techniques must stem-from and be related to the Base Technique, treating it as a parent of sorts.
Base Techniques are decided and submitted BEFORE your character sheet as they are the hardest thing to review in a characters’ reviewal process.
What you can do with a base technique is limited only to your imagination! ( And banned abilities, of course… )
All base and sub techniques function on a give and take policy. Depending on how bad restrictions and drawbacks are on a technique, the benefits will get bolstered to new heights.
While most cursed techniques are Custom, there are some Canon cursed techniques that players can pick up. This is in the inherited technique list from select clans. Picking a technique from these clans may lead to less flexibility with the technique, as you cannot decide what the base technique is / customise it for yourself, but you can still customise the sub-abilities. Of course, some sub abilities are also canon. The trade-off is some inherited techniques have lore progression paths, or even unique effects you can’t achieve through customs…
Upon gaining more CTRL, sub abilities are unlocked for your technique. Sub abilities stem from the base technique and act as extensions to it, adding more utility and variety to what the technique to do.
These sub abilities will come with their own unique set of drawbacks, benefits and restrictions. I.e. double cost for more attack potency.

Base Technique: Fireball / 20 Energy Cost
Sub Ability One: Fire-Blast / 40 Energy Cost / + 40 POTENCY
Sub abilities are to only be submitted after the Base Technique is approved. They must be submitted to the cursed-technique-submissions channel alongside their respective base technique.
Sub Ability Slots are given via two methods:
Sub Abilities unlock with more CTRL the user has as they master their Jujutsu Sorcery and Cursed Technique.
5 CTRL -- Base Technique
20 CTRL -- Sub Ability 1
30 CTRL -- Sub Ability 2
40 CTRL -- Sub Ability 3
60 CTRL -- Maximum Technique
One sub ability can be bought from the Jujutsu Point store that has no CTRL restriction to use, leading to a total of Four Sub ability slots.
Special Classes are technique types that are broadly recognised by the Jujutsu Society to be both useful but also hard to use. These classes / Techniques can either be part of your Base technique or part of a sub-ability. A lot of special classes come with unique effects locked to them. ( E.g. healing with RCT )
