1.1.2 Methods to address content standards and student technology standards through the integration of technology

For a few years I watched as my teammate led 6th graders through an "Around the World" project that was a culminating project students did after reading the book No Summit Out of Sight, by Jordan Romero. Jordan had a goal to climb the tallest summit on each continent, and students were asked what they would do if they could do anything on each continent. Finally this year I asked if I could jump on board to join this project and make it a Humanities project. Together we created a culminating project where students researched a topic of their choice, wrote an informational writing piece, and created a virtual reality tour using Google VR Tour creator. This unit covered both ELA and Social Studies standards that involved research, writing, speaking and listening, and using technology to share information. Below is the rubric created for the project, as well as my example I showed students to launch the project.
