You may think that I only like Googology, both Standard Googology and Fictional Googology. However, I do have other interests as well, and Tetris is one of them. As someone that has never played the original version of Tetris, I do not have the proper experience on the mechanics of the game, although I did play "Tetris Effect: Connected" and it does have a game mode that replicates the experience that I did play. But that is beside the point of this page. I want to tell you what I thought about the achievement on the original version of Tetris and my thoughts on how people are being...well, I would say, overexaggerating about the player.
So first off, this is something that has never been done by a human being before, and seeing that a 13-year-old managed to trigger a game crash was beyond amazing. I have to say, seeing games that are meant to be endless beaten is very surprising for me. This kid deserves the win. He is part of the Tetris Championship, so no wonder they are very excited about this too. It's a matter of time before multiple Tetris players are also able to 'beat' the game as well. I will be surprised if 10% of the Tetris player base manages to do the same thing.
But I wouldn't be making this page if it wasn't for the "over exaggerating" thing to happen. While FG dramas are really bad, I believe this is even worse than that, considering that there are a lot more people in the Tetris community than the FG community. You may have already seen this, but if not, there was this lady news anchor that has basically 'tortured' this kid for doing this. She said, "I, as a mother, would just say: step away from the screen, go outside, get some fresh air; beating Tetris is not a life goal."
So, just that sentence alone has made probably MILLIONS of people angry, and they have called out this lady for saying that towards this kid. Twitter, or X, whatever you call it nowadays, is going absolutely crazy about this. Beating the original version of Tetris was something no one has ever done before, and you're saying this isn't a life goal? GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!!! Well, technically to beat the game you need to go through 255 levels of the game, but the game crash that happened is what people are calling it 'beating the game'. I won't fight over what IS beating the game, as I never played this version at all, so I'll just let others that have played it do it.
I could talk about this for a very long time, but most of my opinions are the same as this YouTuber called "Optimus" which is where I get my news from nowadays, because first off, each 'thing' is separated into individual videos, so I don't need to skip through videos just to get to the stuff I want to know, but also in general, it just gives me more info about what the 'situation' is. And, it is from someone that ACTUALLY does their research on the 'thing' instead of watching some random dudes and gals that don't even look through the news in detail, which is like one of the reasons news sources are dying.
So, here's the video from Optimus talking about this situation: Link [It is 13m 44s long]
One of the things that Optimus talks about that I didn't expect was that, yes, children should go outside and get fresh air, but then at the same time, people will go harass these same children or even call the police on them. Ok then, what are children these days supposed to do? They can't get a job, can't go to college, will not graduate for a while, and don't have much going on in their early life. Yet old people that only watch movies on Netflix or whatnot, that have nothing else to do in their life, are telling children to go outside? THIS IS NOT HOW THIS FREAKING WORKS, YOU OLDER PEOPLE THAT HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO.
The even crazier thing is that this Tetris achievement happened right when 2024 rolled in, or very late 2023 depending on your timezone, so this is just unacceptable behavior from this lady. Again, I agree with almost all of what Optimus talked about, maybe even had a few laughs here and there, so you should definitely see the video from him if you like more info.
Now, speaking of very difficult things in the Tetris series, I want to also talk about the most difficult gamemode on "Tetris Effect: Connected" I said earlier. This most difficult gamemode is none other than "Master" Mode.
So, what is Master mode? As the name speaks for itself, it is meant for the most hardcore Tetris players there are. If you own a copy of the game, you should first try it before reading the rest of this passage. Did you notice something different? If so, congrats! Do you not have a copy of the game? If not, well, there are videos on YouTube that have played it. How many players that you watched actually beat the mode? Not really that many, to be honest. That is just how hard this mode is. Yet in early 2023 there was an update that enabled a toggle to turn Master Mode into Endless Master Mode. Do you see where I am going? Maybe? Ok.
So the already small number of players that have actually beaten Master Mode have not reached very far into Endless Master Mode. Sure, a few players that have beaten the normal version have gotten a couple extra lines before topping out. The ONLY guy I managed to find that actually cleared a quadruple-digit amount of lines is a Japanese player, which translates to "Agaranai Falls," or the alternate name "RunningOutRate." This is the only player I found on YouTube that cleared 3,044 lines and earned 13.6 million points. [Video Link to it] Sadly, when I go to look at the leaderboards on the game, I don't see crazy records like this. Idk, maybe the leaderboards are sorted based on what platform you're playing on, and maybe he doesn't have the game on a Nintendo Switch like I do. The highest number of lines on the leaderboard that I saw was around 298, which is a rookie number compared to 3,044. It sucks to see that hardly anyone has actually gotten very far into the endless game.
Just so you know, after Speed Level M30, the speed does not get any faster, so if a new technique is discovered to make the mode easier, we can very likely get extremely far into the game. But sadly, the only way to compact the intense speed is to have very fast hands and an insanely fast reaction time, which is what only several players have.
