In our collection, we have several items belonging to Ezekiel How, Jr. (1756-1847), son of Ezekiel How, Sr. (1720-1796). Both father and son marched to Concord on April 19, 1775, as part of the Sudbury Militia during the American Revolutionary War.
Ezekiel How, Sr. was an innkeeper/proprietor of How's Tavern from 1759 to 1796 (ownership was passed along to his son Adam Howe, Sr., Jerusha's father). Ezekiel How, Jr. was her uncle.

Above: Pocket watch purchased by E. How, Jr., most likely while he was recovering from a battle wound. A paper inside the watch case notes, “bought from an officer in Burgoyne’s Army at Saratoga for 30 silver dollars. The officer was out of money and sold it under price.”
