Following the fundamental tenets of the JDL Program, our coaches are asked to emphasis technique development. Accordingly, each drill is fully detailed to maximize the amount of value and learning gained from each rep. Our drill structure and detail address the following isuses commonly associated with youth sports programs:
Age Appropriate Training - Utilizing the Skills Progression Matrix, different aspects of each drill or technique are emphasized allowing for younger players to focus on foundational aspects of the skill.; As they become more experienced, the matrix calls for additional aspects of the skill to be emphasized and taught.
Proper Technique - Utilizing video illustration and our Points of Emphasis, the subtle aspects of the drill can be better understood
Organization and Setup - Having a great number of young, first time players in our program, JDL Football understands the importance of running an efficient practice in helping players to maintain their attention spans. Accordingly, the necessary setup, equipment and related items necessary to run the drill effectively are included.

Each drill page is organized as explained below:
Driill Name – Identifies the name of the drill.
Objective – Identifies the skill, techniques, or learnings expected of the drill
Points of Emphasis – Identifies the key elements of the drill to be emphasized to ensure proper technique and to optimize the learnings of the drill.
Equipment - Inventories the equipment required to perform the drill
Setup – Outlines how the drill is to be setup and conducted.
Execution – Step by Step instructions on how to run the drill.
Example – Video or illustration demonstrating how the drill is to be performed.
Skill Progression Matrix – Provides age appropriate instruction and areas of emphasis.
Drill Parameters – Provides key measures for the drill including duration and level of contact.
