About

Virtual Mindfulness Room

At John Dewey High School, we have our own mindfulness room designed to emphasize the beauty and value of our school and community. As we continue practicing social distancing and safety, we hope that we, as a community, can continue practicing mindfulness in the beauty of our homes.

Message to Visitors:

On behalf of myself, our administration, and our entire school community, please know that we are here for you through this global crisis, this week and always. We are here when you smile and when you cry, we are here for you even though we’ve stopped going to school, and we will be here for you when we return. I had no doubt that we are all heroes, and we can keep making miracles come.

Take advantage of this virtual space, and join us.

-Connie Hamilton, FormerPrincipal of John Dewey High School

Statement of Purpose:

Change is the one guarantee we have in life. No matter what... we are in this together! We at John Dewey High School proudly present our Virtual Mindfulness Room. No matter what you are experiencing right now, you are not alone. We want you to know that your thoughts and feelings are valid and we are here for you.

Take a moment each day to examine your experience, and remember, like all else, this shall pass, too. We are one school all in it together.

-Roseann Ponce, School Counselor

About the Creators:

As public schools all over the country moved online, we were inspired by dedicated educators who found creative ways to infuse mindfulness into their teaching. We wanted to bring this platform to the John Dewey community by giving teachers and students the space to practice mindfulness virtually.
