The Youth Festival is an exciting event where young people can show their talents and creativity. It is organized every year by Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University and brings together students from different fields to participate in a variety of competitions such as debate, speeches, skits, quizzes, and more.
These events play an important role in helping students grow personally, improve their communication skills, and engage with intellectual topics. By providing students with opportunities to express themselves and improve their skills, the festival greatly contributes to their overall development.
Manbhavan Yuvak Mahotsav 2023
Kalayatra 2023:
Students from the Department of English took part in Kalayatra, a creative event held before the Youth Festival. Kalayatra is a parade that reflects the theme of the festival, where participants express their ideas artistically. This year, the department’s presentation focused on “Nari Shakti Vandana” (Salutation to Women’s Power), celebrating the strength, resilience, and contributions of women in society.
The students expressed their thanks to the faculty for their guidance and support throughout the event. They also acknowledged the hard work of those who worked behind the scenes, especially those who helped organize and document the parade, ensuring its success.
Youth Festival 2023:
The 31st Manbhavan Yuvak Mahotsav, organized by MKBU, focused on celebrating women's empowerment with the theme of Nari Shakti Vandana. The festival started with Kalayatra, where the Department of English presented a model that reflected both historical and contemporary struggles faced by women.
Students participated in a range of competitions, including skits, quizzes, folk dance, and art-related events. Some notable performances included Mahamrityunjay, the biography of Christy Brown, and Lokvadhy Vrundh. The festival ended with the Department of English winning silver medals in poster making and rangoli. It was a memorable and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
Bhav Spandan Yuvak Mahotsav 2024
Kalayatra 2024:
The Youth Festival starts every year with Kalayatra, where different colleges and departments present group performances on social themes. This year, the Department of English focused on “The Condition of Education” and how social media, TikTok, and substance abuse negatively impact students' academic growth.
The Kalayatra began at Shamaldas Arts College and ended at Swaminarayan College, with different institutions raising awareness about important social issues. Many colleges presented themes related to women’s safety and the growing concerns around sexual violence, making the event a powerful reflection of today’s challenges.
Youth Festival 2024:
The Bhav Spandan Youth Festival 2024 also began with Kalayatra, where colleges showcased themes like feminism, equality, and education. The Department of English focused on the effects of social media and substance abuse on students. The Kalayatra started at Shamaldas Arts College and ended at Swaminarayan Gurukul, where vibrant garba performances took place.
The festival featured skits, mimicry, singing, and literary competitions, all addressing various social issues. Although the Department of English didn’t win any awards, they showed great teamwork and dedication, especially in managing the preparations and hosting literary events. The experience helped bring everyone together, making the festival a meaningful and memorable journey.
