High Concept
A creature raising sandbox where you can play minigames to obtain money and items you can spend to level up and enhance your Blobbies (slimes) in order to breed them and create new colored variants.

Reward system that includes both set rewards for certain minigames and scores and some randomly generated ones obtained from a pool of items.
Scope
The goal for this project will be to create a vertical slice of a modular system for a creature raising/breeding game. In this class I want to essentially make the foundations for a game like this that can later be expanded upon in the future. By the end of this quarter Super Blobby Garden will have 12 obtainable Blobbies (Slimes), with colors from the primary, secondary, and tertiary colors presented in the basic Color Wheel. There will be a single map and at least 3 playable minigames in which the player can obtain items and currency. There will be an inventory with which one can view items and use them (gift them to Blobbies), and a way to get two Blobbies to breed in order to create a new one with a color representative of the mixture of its parent Blobbies. In this inventory, you'll be able to collect up to 20 individual items (and duplicates) that you can keep or give to your Blobbies.

Genre: Sandbox, Creature Collector, Collectathon.
Camera: First Person point of view with a top down view for Rock-Paper-Scissors minigame (presented as cards).
Description: Super Blobby Garden tasks a slime enthusiast with raising primary-colored Blobbies to breed in order to create new Blobbies of different colors and populate the Blobby Sanctuary. Explore the world and play minigames in order to collect items and other goodies that will help your Blobbies grow and improve. Are you up to the task of taking care of these colorful creatures?
Gameplay: The player walks around a small open world oasis-like environment to collect items or access minigames, in which the gameplay changes for a short time to different styles.
Controls: Movement is performed with the WASD keys and space bar. Camera and interactivity is done with the mouse. Inventory is done with the tab key.
Story
Super Blobby Garden will be light on story. Taking place on the Blobby Sanctuary, a floating island not found in the world of Blobbylonia, it is disconnected from most of the history and lore of Super Blobby Quest (My GAME 266 Project). However there will be little hints and references to that world found in the item descriptions or parts of the Sanctuary, as well as silly slime puns for a cute and light-hearted humorous world.
Ideation and Competition
My biggest sources of inspiration are the Chao Garden game mode from Sonic Adventure 2 and My Singing Monsters. Chao Garden was the initial inspiration for the project, in which the player raises a creature and improves their stats in order to breed them to create something new. My Singing Monsters gave me the idea to have specific combinations of Blobbies breed specific outcomes. I will learn more about these games and study how they handle minigames, item rewards, breeding mechanics, and experience points.
As for competition, alongside both Sonic Adventure 2's Chao Garden and My Signing Monsters, Slime Rancher is an immediate competitor as it is also a creature collecting game revolved around slimes. Slime Rancher is more of an open world adventure game with lots of exploration involved where you go out to collect slimes and various items or creatures.
